Biographie - naturfoto-drbauer

Geboren im Harz wuchs ich in der Lutherstadt Eisleben auf,wo ich bis zum Abitur die Schule besuchte. Danach ging es zum Zahnmedizin-Studium nach Leipzig.
Das Interesse an der Fotografie erwachte in mir zu Beginn der Studienzeit. Die Faszination der Unvergänglichkeit, die Magie des Augenblicks und die Möglichkeit, andere Menschen mit meinen Fotos emotional zu erreichen, war der Anlass für den Kauf einer Exakta EXA 1B. Damals gingen meine Ersparnisse drauf, aber die Lust an der Fotografie hat das nicht beeinträchtigt und so ist es bis zum heutigen Tag, nach nunmehr 30 Jahren, geblieben.
Natürlich haben sich die technischen Möglichkeiten entsprechend dem Fortschritt angepasst, wir sind immerhin Zeitzeugen einer der wenigen globalen Revolutionen in der Menschheitsgeschichte, obwohl das vielen Mitmenschen selbst nicht bewußt wird.

Die digitale Revolution hat unser Leben radikal verändert und wird es auch weiterhin tun, mit allen positiven und negativen Aspekten. Auch ich habe meine anfangs skeptischen Ansichten ändern müssen und profitiere von dem technischen Know-how der Digital-Fotografie.

Nach all den Jahren habe ich eines behalten, die Freude am kreativen Umgang mit einem faszinierenden Medium und obwohl heute fast jede Familie einen Fotoapparat besitzt, ist eine Herausforderung geblieben, die Kunst, im richtigen Moment den Auslöser zu drücken...

vorausgesetzt, man hat die Kamera auch immer dabei.

Mein zweites Standbein ist und bleibt die Filmarbeit, das Video. Obwohl sich beide Bereiche von der Zielsetzung beinahe ausschließen,gibt es auch viele Gemeinsamkeiten. Während der Film von der Story lebt, also von Bewegtbildern, ist es beim Foto das Motiv, das verewigte, eingefrorene Bild, der Blick auf das Detail vereint wieder beide Disziplinen. Die Möglichkeit, mit dem Fotoapparat auch Videos aufzunehmen, und das in einer kinotauglichen Qualität, hat auch meine Arbeit beeinflußt und erspart mir viel Reisegepäck.

Während die Naturfotografie und Reisefilme mein Hauptbeschäftigungsfeld bleiben, bin ich für alle Teilbereiche der Lichtbild-und Filmkunst offen, entsprechend wird sich das auf meiner Homepage in Zukunft auch darstellen.

Born in a little town in the Harz mountain I grew up in Lutherstadt Eisleben. After graduating from high school I studied dentistry in Leipzig.

During this time I became interested in photography. The fascination of immortality, the magic of the moment and the opportunity to reach other people emotinally with my photos was the reason for buying my first SLR camera Exakta EXA 1b. After more than 30 years the passion for photography has remained until today.

Off course, the technical possibilities have been adapted according to the construction progress, after all, we are contemporary witness of the digital revolution. That has radically changed our lives and will continue to do so, with all the positive and negative consequences. My views have also changed and I benefit from the technical know-how of digital photography.

After all these years I have kept the joy of being creative with the camera. Allthough allmost every family has a camera, it has remained a challenge to press the shutter button at the right moment.

I am also interested in videography and there are many similarities between the two media. While the film lives from the story, from moving images, with the photo it is the motive, the immortalized image, the view of the detail again united both disciplines. The ability to record videos with the camera has also greatly influenced my work.

In addition to nature photography and travel films, I compose music and write poems and aphorisms.

By chance I came across a photographic method I call "Bauer HDR" . This allows the creation of photos that are reminiscent of graphical structures, allthough the images have not been processed on the computer!
